Determine Your Eye Shape for Perfect Eye Makeup

Determine Your Eye Shape for Perfect Eye Makeup

When it comes to eye makeup, especially eyeshadow, the shape of the eyes is everything. The right eyeshadow can make eyes look big, brilliant and alluring, while the wrong eyeshadow can make them look dull, small and unwelcoming.

But even before a woman considers eyeshadow, she needs to consider the shape of her eyes. Here’s how to tell the shape:

Hooded Eyes

Theses eyes have lids that look heavy and partly closed.

Wide-Set Eyes

If a woman isn’t sure whether or not her eyes are wide-set, she should measure one of her eyes. If the space between her eyes is larger than the width of the eye, her eyes are wide-set.

Close-Set Eyes

Conversely, the difference between close-set eyes is lecithin the width of the person’s eye.

Prominent Eyes

These people have full eyes and eyelids that look like they extend out from the face.

Deep-Set Eyes

These eyes are set deep into their sockets, which makes the brow bone seem prominent.

Almond Shaped Eyes

This is self-explanatory, but if a person isn’t sure, they should look straight into a mirror. If part of their iris is covered by their eyelid, they have almond shaped eyes.

Downturned Eyes

This means the outer corners of the eyes turn slightly downward. Though they can make a woman look a bit wistful, these types of eyes belonged to some of the most beautiful women in history, like Marilyn Monroe. The opposite, of course, are upturned eyes.

Monolid Eyes

These eyes have eyelids that don’t have a crease.

How To Apply Eyeshadow
The purpose of eyeshadow is to shape the lid by reducing the look of what the wearer doesn’t want seen and to bring forward what she does want seen and to define and open up the eyes. Basically, applying eyeshadow is the same for all eyes with minor adjustments. There are three key ingredients:

• The Highlight
Everything that is highlighted will become more prominent. A highlight with a matte finish makes the look more subtle than eyeshadow with a dramatic shimmer. The highlight is applied to the brow bone and the eyelid, but not all the way from the lash line to the brow, since this is unflattering. Add some to the inside corner of the lower lash line to make the eye look larger.

• The Midtone
The midtone is the most important shade. It’s deeper than the highlight but lighter that the contour shade and is important in defining the crease of the eye. Ideally, the midtone is closer to the wearer’s skin tone and has a matte finish. It is applied from the outside corner of the eyelid and moved along the crease of the eyelid all the way to the inside corner.

• The Contour
The contour shade is the deepest color and is used to reshape the eyelid and define the eye, sometimes dramatically. Because of this, there are more contour shades than highlight or midtone shades. To apply, brush across the top lash line from the outside corner toward the inside corner. Blend it in with the eyeliner with a brush. Then, bring the color up to the outer portion of the eyelid crease, and blend it inward to make a gradation of color. The outer corner of the eye should be the darkest and the color should lighten as it’s moved toward the center of the eyelid. To be really dramatic, apply several layers of color.

Tips for Different Eyes
Wide-set eyes should look like they’re a bit closer together than they are, so the inside hollows of the eye next to the bridge of the nose should be darkened.

Close-set eyes have the opposite problem, so the inside corners of the eyes need to be kept light, which will make the eyes seem farther apart. Darker shades should be concentrated on the outside corners.

Eyeshadow for deep-set eyes should bring the eyes forward while de-emphasizing the brow bone. It is best to avoid dark eyeshadows, which make the eyes seem even deeper than they are.

Downturned eyes need to be turned up just a little, and it’s easy to do. Don’t allow the colors of the eyeshadow to meet at the outer corner of the eye. It gives the eye a bit of a visual lift.

Learning how to bring out the best in the eyes is fun, and some people have turned it into a money-spinning art form. A woman should feel free to experiment until she’s found the colors and shades that are best for her.

Eye Makeup Hacks You Need to Add to Your Daily Routine

Eye Makeup Hacks You Need to Add to Your Daily Routine

As all beauty mavens know, makeup isn’t just a habit – it’s an art. Eye makeup is especially so, as there are so many tools, colors, and tricks for creating awesome eye looks. Whether you do a basic dash out the door or a complex smokey eye as a matter of course, here are twelve eye makeup hacks you should add to your daily routine.

Use a Spoon for Lower-Lash Mascara

Applying mascara to lower lashes is a tricky endeavor at best. To avoid getting mascara all over your lower eyelid, place a disposable spoon just below your lower eyelashes before you apply your mascara.

Hide Those Dark Circles the Right Way

To hide dark circles effectively, use a lighter shade of concealer in your crease, and a slightly darker shade to the circles or bags.

View Your Makeup Under Different Lighting

Anytime you do your makeup, make sure you view it under not only your regular makeup light, but under natural light – if possible – and other ambient and direct lightings such as in your kitchen, living room, or car.

Enlarge Your Eyes With Mascara

Want to make your eyes look bigger? With your mascara wand, sweep mascara horizontally onto your lashes towards your nose before straightening them out. It’ll thicken your lashes and make your eyes appear larger.

Don’t Throw Away “Empty” Plastic Tubes

Chances are if you use any sort of makeup that comes in a plastic tube, there’s more left even when you think it’s empty. Cut it open and store what’s left in small jars or pots.

Get More Out of Your Mineral Makeup Tub

If your favorite mineral eyeshadow comes in a tub and seems to be running out, try the plastic cover off the tub and rub the cake mineral makeup off the underside and back into the pot. This will give you a bit more time to run out and get more before you’re out completely!

Try White Eyeliner

White eyeliner brightens the eyes and can help make eye color pop. Try lining with it before you do your eye makeup, or cover your whole lid with it to really get some color zing.

Get Perfect Wings With a Spoon

Another spoon trick: get the perfect angle on your winged eyeliner. Slant the spoon over your eye and use the edge to shape your wing, then again for the bottom side. Fill in, and bam – perfect winged eyeliner.

Two-Shade Smokey Eye

Some smokey eye looks call for several shades, but if you’re in a hurry, you can do a smokey eye on the run. Choose your base eyelid color and choose a neutral shade for smoking. Do your eyelid with the base color, wing out if desired, and then do your crease with a gray, black, or brown shade. Finish with your favorite eyeliner and sail out the door.

Volumize Lashes

If you want thicker lashes but don’t want to spend a ton of money on a special formula, just dust translucent powder onto your lashes between coats. You’ll be va-va-voom in no time.

Know Your Eye Shape

Whether your eyes are wide-set or deep-set, average or round, adapting your eye makeup to suit your eye shape will result in a much more flattering look. Here’s a chart to show you how best to apply different colors to your particular eye shape.

Adapt Your Brows To Your Face Shape

The way you shape your brows is just as important as how you apply your eye makeup in accordance with your eye shape. Check out this handy chart for the best brow shape for your face type.

If you’re an eye makeup enthusiast, you’ll find these eye makeup hacks to be indispensable tools to add to your daily regimen. Play and experiment with them and incorporate them into your makeup artistry – and reach new heights of eye-popping fabulosity.

Ralph Lauren: Life Story of Legendary Fashion Billionaire

Ralph Lauren: Life Story of Legendary Fashion Billionaire

Ralph Lauren is one of the most legendary names in fashion. Even people who are not into fashion know the name. Those who have never heard the legend of this fashion icon are missing out. His tale is an extraordinary one. Keep reading to learn all about the life of one of the most famous fashion designers in history.

One of the Richest People on the Planet Comes from Humble Roots

Lauren is the 83rd richest person on the planet with a net worth of more than $6 billion. He was born in New York City October 14, 1939. Ralph Lifshitz, which was the name on Lauren’s birth certificate, was the third of four children born to Jewish immigrants who fled Belarus to escape the wrath of Hitler.

Lauren was into fashion from an early age. When he was a teenager, he dressed in the most fashionable attire he could find. He took his inspiration from screen icons of the day like Cary Grant and Fred Astaire. When Lauren was 16 years old, he and his brother Jerry changed their last name to Lauren after enduring lots of teasing about their name at school.

Early Adulthood

When he graduated from high school, Lauren studied business for two years at Baruch College in Manhattan. He dropped out after two years to enlist in the US Army, where he spent another two years before making the move to the fashion industry.

RELATED ARTICLE: 5 Fashion Tricks To Look Great At 40

His fashion career started when Lauren was hired by Brooks Brothers as a sales assistant. He stayed there briefly before he moved on to sell ties for Beau Brummell. In 1967, while still working for Beau Brummell, Lauren began at the age of 26 to design his own neckties. At the time, the skinny tie was all the rage, but Lauren sold wider, European-style ties with the now famous “Polo” name. The ties sold well, and a fashion empire was launched.

The Signature Item

It was 1972 when Lauren released his first line of Polo shirts. They came in 24 colors and had the now-iconic polo player label over the left breast. The polo shirt originally was worn by polo players in Argentina as a way to battle the heat during matches. It was in 1933 that French tennis star and designer René Lacoste began selling his famous polo shirts with the crocodile label, and they were being sold in the US by the 1950s. Lauren took the polo shirt and made it the Polo shirt, wrapping his version so tightly up with the public’s perception that it became the name-brand.

Hollywood Ties

The entire male cast of “The Great Gatsby” wore Polo clothes from Lauren’s line of 20s-inspired clothing. Lauren designed the pink suit that Robert Redford wore in his portrayal of Gatsby. Lauren also designed the clothing worn by Diane Keaton and Woody Allen in “Annie Hall.”

Flagship Store

The first Ralph Lauren flagship store was launched in 1986. It was placed in the Rhinelander Mansion on Madison Avenue to represent the label’s opulence. Just over a decade later, Ralph Lauren Corporation became a publicly-traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Lauren ran the company up to a multi-billion-dollar enterprise before stepping down as CEO in 2015.

Lauren’s story is truly remarkable. From the son of immigrants to the most famous man in fashion, Lauren’s journey to the top is one of the great American success stories. Although he is now no longer running the company, it will likely continue to thrive long after his death. Ralph Lauren is one of the most recognizable names in the world.
